FDA Issues Statement on Paxil Birth Defects Risks

Paxil® - According to the FDA, the use of Paxil® during pregnancy increases the risk of birth defects - especially heart defects. Studies have shown that women who took Paxil®, an antidepressant, during the first three months of pregnancy were about one and a half to two times as likely to have a baby with a heart defect.

Possible birth defects include:

  • Heart Ventricle Outflow Track Defects
  • Atrial Septal Defect
  • A Ventrical Septal Defect
  • Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Pulmonary Stenosis
  • Craniosynostosis (sutures on infant’s head close too rapidly)
  • Cleft palates
  • Spina bifida

If you took Paxil during your pregnancy and had a child with severe birth defects, then you may be eligible for financial compensation. To learn more, call Goldberg Attorneys right away at 800-600-6014.
